Agreed...All that machining is so sweet. How much does it all weigh? I love the roller idea!!!

I see a made a good Fantasy FIRST pick
![]() I loved Newton's bot last year. Combined with 1775 in Kansas City, it was a very deadly alliance. Excellent chassis. Edit: When will you all be able to put some video for us to enjoy? Last edited by Barry Bonzack : 03-02-2008 at 17:49. |

Re: Team 935 as of 2-2-2008
Thanks. When we weighed it we threw on our cable drums and our electronics parts and it weighed about 109 lbs, i think. I don't remember what it weighed without anything on it. I think it was somewhere around 100 lbs.

Re: Team 935 as of 2-2-2008
where do you guys plan on mounting your electronics? I dont see any place that is pretty good and covered to mount it.

Re: Team 935 as of 2-2-2008
well, the chassis weighs around 64 lbs and the elevator weighs around 36 lbs. We have a habit of building our chassis a bit heavier than many teams.
There will be a space right in the center of the chassis. That's probably where I'll end up mounting the electronics. We usually just mount them wherever we can fit them. |

I don't really know, although I'm hoping by the end of the week. We're never usually that lucky though.

Re: Team 935 as of 2-2-2008
Regarding the weight of the frame- it's aluminum extrusion, isn't it? Bolting the entire frame must add quite a bit of extra weight, and extrusion is at least twice as heavy than box tubing due to sheer mass. Are you guys going to be a pushing bot? Weight would help there. A robot pushing the weight limits isn't always bad. Sorry, pun not actually intended.

Re: Team 935 as of 2-2-2008
The chassis is made out of 1/4 inch aluminum that is cut with a CNC machine. There are no welds, the entire robot is bolted together with 1/4 - 20's. I think that the weight that I said earlier was with the battery. I had to include the battery when I was trying to figure out the robot's CG so I probably forgot got to subtract it from the weight. We probably wont be a pushing bot, we just have a habit of building heavy robots.
