and the translation: News host (male): Back to the Krayot (a region in Israel), only last weel we told you about a NASA Astornout who landed in Kirya Yam, a city witch is trying to promote Science and Engineering in any way possible. Today we have a story about the youth side of this city, with a group of teenagers who are building a unique robot. Dana Korah met those young people. Reporter (Female): Please meet the Mechantornics students from Rabin High School in Kiryat Yam. You will not find this guys home watching the TV, they are spending their spare time at school, in a race against time to build a small robot, which will do big things. All of that, in only 6 weeks, is a part of the International FIRST Robotics Competition. Menny Weis, Team mentor (Male): It is basicly about a game that changes evry year, and in 6 weeks we build a robot. Hen Beigel, Driver (Male): He looks small, but it all is based on Physics. One part here controls the other part and eventually the whole thing is moving and lifting the ball. Reporter (Female): And if you thought that phisics is mechanics is a boy only area, think again. There are girls in the team too, they might be only 2 out of 12, 2 that would not hear a thing about fashoin designing. Hadas (Student in the team, female): People ase me why do i do this and i say that it thrills me, and that i want to go and build. Oshrat (Team Student, Female): I am actually very interested in Scientific stdies, it make me curious. You build, you learn new things and i find that much more interesting. Reporter (Female): You want to win? You want to go to Atlanta? Oshrat (Team Student, Female): Yes, i really do! I want to see more robot designs and compete in the Championship. It's a lot of fun and interesting. Reporter (Female): Ofcourse, we can't leave those students without asking them what are their future plans, and apparently The Technion, Israe's best technical university is not enough for them. Abi (Team Student, Male): My dream in life is not building robots, but it is a great addition, it is something very interesting. Reporter (Female): And what do you want to do when you are big? Avi (Team Student, Male): I want to work in an Hi-Tech company, maby as a manager. I don't know, we will see... Hen (Team student, Male): My dream has always been becoming a pilot, and i am now working on making it come true, but building robots who will take over the world souns good too! Reporter (Female): Untill those dreams come true, they have 2 more weeks to complete all the testing and building of the small robot, that might open them a door to the big world. Enjoy =] |
