FROM THE FIRST WEB SITE -- RESULTS OF NASA AMES REGIONAL

First place:
Team 100 - NASA Ames Research Center/ Lockheed-Martin Missile & Space & Woodside High School (Woodside, CA)
Team 254 - NASA Ames Research Center & Broadway High School & Blackford High School (San Jose, CA)

Second Place
Team 252 - NASA Ames Research Center & Broadway High School (San Jose, CA)
Team 207 - SMC Corporation & Hawthorne High School (Hawthorne, CA)

Look closely at teams 254 & 252.

It is already allowed to have more than one FIRST team from one highschool.

Please consider this: FIRST did not disallow a second team on the California schools you mention, and these teams were clearly sanctioned by their administration, coaches and sponsor (NASA).

We know of one group who qualify as a second team who does not have true non-profit affiliation, does not have high school affiliation, and who were not given administrative approval. Yet they exist.

In answer to the question posed about 2nd teams.....if your coaches, administrators and sponsors are agreed that there will be a 2nd team, then that is appropriate.

It is not up to FIRST to tell you whether you can or cannot have a 2nd team. It really needs to be settled at your own school.

Fully sanctioned and sponsored teams from the same High School would work under ideal conditions.

However renagade teams formed because they were not happy with the origional team are destructive to both teams, the school and to FIRST. The potential problems are great with many hard feelings and conflicts within the school and among students.

We already have to much violence and conflict between students within our schools. Renagade teams are counter productive and will destroy both teams.

There is a solutition however. Compromise with clear rules and guidelines for all parties.
