Details about Great Lakes

Would anyone happen to know the layout of the pit area (i.e. space alottments) for teams at the Great Lakes Regional? Also, does anyone know if the campus has a machine shop that teams will be allowed to use, thereby 'circumventing' the previous stipulation of all parts machining taking place at the competition site.

As far as I know, there's not a machine shop around on campus at all that would be available for teams to use at Great Lakes. As for pit space, with the event being back at Bowen this year, it depends on exactly how much floor space is used by the field and how the rest of the field house is set up. I'm going to be stopping by the field house on Wednesday before the event to help set things up(I'm a volunteer on the crew), and I will take a look at how everything is set up and post it here when I get home.

The agenda provided by FIRST states that a machine shop opens promptly at 8:00 AM on all three days of the Great Lakes Regional. Perhaps they're wheeling one in or one already exists on the campus. I was just curious. I'll await your details after the setup on Wednesday. Thanks for the help.

I talked with Theresea Clement, the FIRST contact for the Great Lakes Regional and found out that a machine shop does exist on the campus. Volunteers will help with transportation to the shop, but a map of its location is not being furnished at this point in time. Pit areas will be approximately 10' x 10'. If anyone has further questions, contact Ms. Clement at 800-871-8326, extension 432 or e-mail her at .
