The Griffins' site

Hi all,

I'm the "webmaster" (what an antiquated term...) for Team 1884, The Griffins.
I'd appreciate any criticism, especially about a need for more content.

Please excuse some of the ugly Javascript—it was necessary in order to comply with the strange guideline of opening external links in new windows.

Thanks!

Re: The Griffins' site

It looks good; i like the color and the general layout

the logo is a bit squished.

Re: The Griffins' site

What do you mean by "squished"? Perhaps your browser window is so narrow that the nav bar is encroaching upon the logo's space?

Re: The Griffins' site

The design looks great. I just have two things:
1. Why does the logo/banner/name open a new window/tab to get to your own homepage?
2. Nothing on FIRST?

Re: The Griffins' site

Pretty good. However, a calendar would be a nice thing to have on the site. The calendar would be useful because people could click on a specific date or if they wanted to look at a brief overview of the month, they could do so. Also, you might want an announcements page for team related announcements. Unfortunately we haven't gotten it up on our website quite yet, but it could go along the lines of an announcement saying that the electrical team needs to do such and such at the next meeting, please make sure you bring the proper tools. Something like that might not be a bad idea. We have a login on our website which permits team members only to look at the contact list, private calendar objects and (soon to be) team related announcements. Furthermore, the FIRST logo looks like it's quite pixelated. Did you resize a smaller image?

Re: The Griffins' site

1. That's probably the Javascript being overambitious—I can fix it. Thanks!
2. I was wondering if I should have a paragraph or two about FIRST, but somehow I thought FIRST's own site did a good enough job. I suppose it's easier for the reader if I include my own summary.

Re: Calendar... Thanks for the suggestion. It could be useful, but unfortunately we are nowhere near being that organized. And as for the announcement section, almost all of our communication is done by email (if ever) and our team is so small that we all just kind of try do everything every day. For example, the "electrical team" consists of two newbies and me—even though I'm supposed to be programmer and Co-Captain. A password-protected area probably wouldn't be used much either, unfortunately.

The FIRST logo should not be pixelated. I suspect that your browser's default font size is set quite large (it's an fluid design that depends on your font size). That, or you're using IE. Here's a screenshot of what it should look like.

Re: The Griffins' site

All right, I added a calendar (which was well received) and some more information about FIRST. I also updated the design a bit; it's not so dark and "claustrophobic" anymore.

I know the website award deadline has passed, but I'd appreciate any other criticism you might have!
