Exclamation Festo valve help

When we turn on our robot the pneumatic cylinders extend until 30psi when the festos kick in, then they will retract to where we want them at the start. Is there any way to stop this from happening and is this normal for the festo's?

The Festos, in addition to needing 12 Volts, need 30 PSI to kick over as they are pneumatically controlled.

Thus, if you are trying to start with the Festos active and no pressure in your tanks (plumbed to keep your cylinder retracted when the festos are active) then you will get that reaction.

My suggestion is to charge the tanks first (before starting the RC).

Re: Festo valve help

You could use the SMC solenoids. They will remain in the position they were last set until power is applied to one end. Granted, they won't change until there is enough pressure applied to them, but they won't do what the Festos are doing.

Re: Festo valve help

You could reverse the ports on the valve, so that when it powers up, it's already in the desired state.

Question Re: Festo valve -- how to order more

We had one break and need to order more.
I went to the website but there is no part number 13026684 when I did a search. Any clue as to where to get them and fast.

Thanks so much in advance.

Carolyn

I don't know about the FESTO valves, but I know here in southern Ontario there's a number of pneumatic supply place where we've picked up some SMC valves, which should perform your needed task.

Alternatively, you could just use the SMC valves out of the kit.

They "Disappeared".

I have called more than one SMC listed distributor.
They still do not show the part number in their SMC system. The part listed is SY3240-6H-S. They do not have that in the
SMC system according to the 2 distributors I called. They have a part SY3240-6HZ-X70 which was the one from last year.
The SY3240-6HZ-X70 they have 150 on the warehouse shelf. I do not know what to do. We need one.

I also put a question on Q&A but it has been over 48 hours with no answer.

Please can any team help us decide what to do.
The SMC ones are $83.00 each, so I do not want to order the wrong one.

What about <R34> and <R42>, even though we are in the USA.

Is there anyone not using theirs? We could pay for shipping, buy it, etc.

Carolyn

Re: Festo valve help

Don't you have the double SMC's from the past? I'm pretty sure they're the same valves.

No answer? Did you check here? It seems that the answer to your question was posted several hours before it was said "there was no answer."

I really did look before I posted. One of our two questions showed up but this one had a lock on it. I now know why I did not see it. I thought I put the question in Section 10 - Kit of Parts, but this answer is in Section 8 - The Robot - pneumatics. I kept looking in Section 10 for the answer and did not see it. My appology to all, especially the person who answered our question in a very timely manner. Next time I will check better before I post.
