Re: Who else is really, really behind?

We're behind, naturally. We are, however, ahead of last year, the year before, the year before that, etc. The electrical is mostly done (we ran out of 10AWG wire, so two victors lack power, and I think our battery mount may need some modifications), the pneumatics is done, the drivetrain is done, and most of the parts for the arm are done. On paper, it doesn't sound like we're that far behind, but by its very nature, our arm will need a lot of fine tuning to be effective and to avoid hurting someone very badly (it's a very powerful arm). I wouldn't be surprised if we were still fine-tuning our PID constants at the regional.

We're pretty far behind. We didn't have a frame until 4 or 5 days ago, but we're catching up. I think.

We're also about a week behind schedule. However, I'm sure many teams will be tweaking things until the moment the shipping crate is screwed shut.

Well I think that were in trouble... One because we just got our electrical board mounted, then we came across a problem with our PWM wireing....so were still working all of these problems out And have not even started on the arm... So I think we are in really ba shape

Re: Who else is really, really behind?

We're behind, but we're in great shape. Did some pre integration today, everything's cut perfectly and taken apart to be powder coated. Time to do testing later this week. Sleep is for the weak in week 6!

Ignoring the oddity in quoting myself, we are now even further behind than we were yesterday, since after discovering a problem with the chain we took all six wheels back off the robot. Currently our (assembled) 2008 bot consists of an aluminum skeleton, six bolts with nuts, four bearings, four L-brackets, and a whole lot of painfully empty space.

Well, it does resemble more of a robot costume than an actual robot. But our electronics are designed, the programming is planned, bumpers are close to completion, drive team picked out (RoboCoach?), the OI is halfway built, and all the Solidworks models are finally finished. We may not have a robot yet, but we have Robot Potential!

Robot costume? Maybe if we had some polycarb armor or actual decoration on it. Right now there's not enough actual substance to disguise anyone of the fact that what they're looking at is empty frame.

Forget Robot Potential, it's more like Empty-Crate-on-Ship-Day Potential!

Re: Who else is really, really behind?

We've had Empty-Crate-on-Ship-Day Potential every year, except for Scott Baron's year (awesome mentor who managed to get the robot finished Week 5- we've never been able to replicate the feat). Anyone else surpass 766's level of unfinishedness? All of the pictures and videos heap on both inspiration and despair in equal measure, so with both types of incentive we should pick up momentum. And the polycarb for electronics board is cut, so that can be put on soon with electronics, I hope...

Re: Who else is really, really behind?

Haha, the wonderful taste of progress! It's like powder sugar on strawberries!

At the rate we got things done today, we SHOULD be done assembling by Thursday.

The operative word is SHOULD.
