What colors can the sensor wires on the robot be? We were thinking about green.

Go with red, black and green or red, black and white. Conductors in the same cable are actually different colors for a purpose, to reduce wiring mistakes. In DC electronics, red is often used for power and black for ground. The sensor wire itself can be any other color.

<R54> All wires distributing power with a constant polarity (i.e., except for relay module, speed
controller, or sensor outputs) shall be color-coded as follows:
 Use red, white, or brown wire for +12 Vdc and +5 Vdc connections.
 Use black or blue wire for common (-) connections.

Standard PWM cables vary from this. I have seen and used red/white/black, brown/yellow/red, and red/blue/black. For yourself and others on your team, I would recommend staying with the standard color wiring above for power wiring and you choose the color for signal wiring. Those who might help you at competitions are going to expect a red wire to have either +12 or +5 volts, a black or green wire to have continutity to the common buss of your robot, and white, orange, blue, or brown to have signal.
