So hello again to the first community.

How'd Chief Delphi become the official discussion forum place? I would say though that they do a great job with all the forums. They've been great!

In any case, we RAMBOTS, have a chat server. So far, everybody has loved it so much and we want to enrich it with more chat rooms and even have a way for other teams to put their own web chat code on their own webpages, but connecting to ONE single server, therefore allowing access to one SERVER alone throughout all the FIRST teams.

We're willing to be the team to hold such chats. We're willing to share the code as well so people can add it either as a link to chat at ANYTIME, or as a link where they could actually chat all the time FIRST people.

Basically, what I'm trying to get at is any website manager can add discussion forums. And any website can also have CHAT servers. What I'm offering is a SINGLE CHAT server that supports the entire FIRST community that teams can all even put on their own websites, but still connect to ONE chat server: the RAMBOTS chat server, free all the time 24/7.

What do you think?

There is no official web site of FIRST except the FIRST Site usfirst.org.

chiefdelphi.com was one of the first sites that went beyond the normal 'Web Page', providing forums that allows teams to communicate. We have dedicated much time and effort and cost ( many dollars each month to host this site )to keep this site evolving into what it is today.

We are always open to suggestions.
Example; last year a few teams wanted a chat room. We had one but it was not used much so this year we dropped it. Remember the web is still in its young developing stages. Not all teams have access and fast modems, although this year it is greatly improved.

There will never be 'Official' FIRST web sites because then what is said will be official and may be information that is in error. Very dangerous for FIRST.

Our intention was, and still is, to promote FIRST and all the great things it will do for our youth and our country.

Remember we are not in competition with each other but rather growing the vision of FIRST.

Indeed, we are both working to spread the vision of FIRST and continue to show it's values and spirit. We, Rambots, do wish to be a bigger part of this great collaboration.

Mike, let's go all the way with this chat room business. I think people are enjoying it so far. We can use the discussion forums as a medium for asychronous discussions and use the power of live interactive online chats for synchronous conversations.

I guess I would say the main intention of our website was just as similar as yours. We wish to further enhance its information in quantity and work with ChiefDelphi's Page in conjunction -- as your page already gets many hits. We have many new ideas that we wish to provide for the FIRST community through the power of the Internet.

Becoming 'official' may have been misinterpreted. Chief Delphi really is not official so to speak, but is official in the sense that 'hey, go to Chief Delphi, they'll answer you there.' In which case, we mean we wish to OFFER the service to the first community.

erin is helping- you guys wont be 'official', but you might be promoted. maybe if more people mailed first's webmaster about their interest in this chat, he would extend a link to antons' page from usfirst.org. keep up the chatting!
