IR Board Modifications?
My team was planning to modify the IR board that we recieved. We want to potentially put an IR sensor from an XBOX reciever on the board, since it's a proprietary IR signal and would interfere much less than a traditional remote control. I couldn't find anything in the rules or the checklist explicitly prohibiting the modification of the board, does anybody know any differently? Does anybody think that this would be a prudent modification?

Re: IR Board Modifications?
According to the GDC Q&A, you may modify the IR sensor board without violating the rules.
I don't understand what you intend to replace, however. The part of the board that decodes and recognizes the IR command is the software. |

Re: IR Board Modifications?
You're allowed to, but again, there's no real reason to. You can use an xbox remote with this IR board just fine with what you have. The IR photocell in the xbox receiver isn't going to be any different from that on the IR board you got from FIRST.
