Time for an Upgrade

I think it is time for an upgrade to usb on the robot controller. It would be so awesome to use usb products to the fullest extent. What do you guys think about this.

Re: Time for an Upgrade

The only thing I can say is all in good time. I think there was an email late in 06 that said something about a new controls system, so its probably coming.

Re: Time for an Upgrade

Yes, I believe rumor has it that next season we will see new a interface, but take this with a grain of salt. It would be awesome to see usb integrated, because I'm sure a lot of teams (including 964) don't have the time or money to spend on a serial-to-usb chicklet.

Re: Time for an Upgrade

I don't care so much about being able to use USB joysticks nearly as much as I care about USB programming. I want native USB download to the controller... These USB->Serial converters slow down the process way too much. Our old laptop with a native serial port was so much faster, but its dead now. That, and I want more interrupts... MOAR!
