We actually had the same problem, but we fixed it now. |

Re: pic: Our robot holding the Ball
Its no longer a cylinder area. Its an 80 x 80 square. But either way, yes your out. Unless you have some sort of algorithm to pivot the claw in towards the robot as your lifting it (looks like you have a joint there). We were thinking about doing something like that.

Re: pic: Our robot holding the Ball
the dimensions of the 80in cylinder never changed just to tell you and you might want to recheck the rule book.

Re: pic: Our robot holding the Ball
Did the rule ever say the center of the cylinder had to be the center of the robot?

Re: pic: Our robot holding the Ball
No the rule just states that the maximum possible horizontal distance can only be 80", so they would have to measure the end of the left side of their forks when their arm is at 90 degrees, then horizontally to the back right side of their base. My guess is that it looks like they are over 80" but they would have to measure it to be sure.

Re: pic: Our robot holding the Ball
It was never an 80 in circle, and it is not now an 80 in square. Edit: Mr. Norris beat me to it....
The rule limits the maximum horizontal dimension. This means that there are cases where the robot won't fit the circle or the square, but will satisfy the rule. The talk of a cylinder came from an example in the rules which mistakenly gave the impression that fitting within an 80 in circle was a requirement. It has long since been clarified by FIRST. |

Re: pic: Our robot holding the Ball
our robot is exactly the same design (arms/claw).
![]() thanks to this thread, I will check if we made 80in. we though our robot design was unique, I guess it's not. Good Luck Teams, 5 days left ![]() |
