Survey: What rate of turn gyros are you using?

Just out of curiosity, for those of you who are using gyros, what are your gyros rated for in terms of turning rate? The 90deg/s is too low and I'm thinking about buying a 150deg/s gyro, but not sure if that is the way to go.

Thanks,
Windell

Re: Survey: What rate of turn gyros are you using?

We are using last year's 150 deg/sec gyro. It seems to work well, but we didn't test this year's gyro to see if it would be sufficient.

Good luck,
Sam

Re: Survey: What rate of turn gyros are you using?

Last year's 150 deg/sec gyro (ADXRS150) integrated circuit is a COTS component, available from distributors such as Digikey, so it can be used.

However, the 2007 kit-of-parts circuit card that included that same gyro is not a COTS component, so it cannot be used this year. See this official Q&A response posted by GDC yesterday.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.
