Your question clarifies the reason why this is (unless Q&A says otherwise, which I doubt they will) okay... you are replacing a part of the GEARBOX that is ATTACHED to the motor.

You could, theoretically, hack off the entire worm gear mechanism and just use the motor component of the Keyang, just as you are under no obligation to use the plastic gearbox that came with the FP motors. (And, in fact, I highly recommend you don't... banebots has many excellent alternatives!)
