Pressure Sensor

I was wondering if there is any pressure sensors we can get for the robot. Not the pressure switch that's used for the compressor (we have one of those wired up and it works great), I mean a sensor that can tell the robot the exact pressure in the system (so I can pass it to the OI).

Has anyone done this, and if yes, where did you get your sensor?

Re: Pressure Sensor

We bought a Nason pressure switch from McMaster-Carr, they sell them for preset pressures in 5 psi increments. we got an 80 psi switch, it turns on a light on the OI and tells the drivers that there's enough air to shoot the ball reliably.

They also sell pressure transducers and you can get them from other places like DigiKey, but this seems to be all we really needed, and it was easy to implement.

Re: Pressure Sensor

You can get a pressure sensor that reads in voltage; for example look at Fluke (the multimeter folks), they sell a sensor kit like that. It is surely overkill for your application, but it shows that there are pressure sensors out there.

Re: Pressure Sensor

Based on your team number, I'm guessing you're a rookie team this year. If you can find a team thats been around since 2004 in your area, the 2004 KOP had a pressure transducer in it, that functioned as a simple analog sensor, and there was a relatively easy conversion factor to have it read out psi on that user variable on the OI.
