Re: Hokcey:Ovcechkin v. Crosby
I'm a die-hard Caps fan. Ovechkin is a beast, one of the best goals scorers this league has EVER seen. He will lead the league in goals and points this season, and will score 60+ goals for the first time in several years.
But that just makes my case even stronger...Crosby is better. Ovechkin is faster and flashier, but Crosby is a much better all-round player. Both aren't afraid to get in tough situations and run right through you if they have to. Both have wicked shots and can score from angles that heavily favor goalies. Both can analyze and read defenses with some sort of amazing 6th sense. Both can bust out insane moves and leave defenders dumbfounded.
Crosby, though, is something else. He has such spectacular vision, and will see and set up other players with ease. He's an offensive wizard, and will create opportunities that shouldn't be possible. Remember how good he was on that broken foot during the play-offs last year? Or his performance during the Winter Classic?
Ovechkin is on pace for 107 points (most in the league) this season. The most he has ever scored in a season to this point is 106, his rookie year.
Crosby was on pace for 112 when he got injured. He scored 120 last season.
Both Washington and Pittsburgh have futures so bright it's scary. With Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Semin in Washington, and Crosby, Malkin, and Staal in Pitt, the Eastern conference is going to have issues for years to come.
