Does the IR board have to go in the crate?

We are trying to help out another team with fixing their IR board, but I don't think we're going to be able to get a working ICSP programmer before the robot ships tomorrow. Would it be legal to not ship the IR board with the robot and fix it in the 10 hour fix-it windows?

yes, the robot is considered part of the robot, especially considering that it is normally mounted on the robot. <R28>

It would not be legal to do it in the 10 hr fix it windows. You can however put it on when you get to the competition.

Re: Does the IR board have to go in the crate?

Has anyone checked with on the First Q & A about this? Our board just went out today as we were about to upload hybrid code - then we find out about the inherent power up/down problem corrupting the firmware. How can we get/make the proper cable to fix this in such a short time? Will they really say "read the rules" when they ship us an unreliable part?

Team Update #10 came out Thursday. I guess that is considered enough time to come up with such an atypical cable.

Sorry about the whining. We'll be ready to fix it in Phoenix.

I would double-check this on Q&A. I would think it's something legal to do in the fix-it windows.

Re: Does the IR board have to go in the crate?

Something that I never realized before reading one of Dave L's posts in another thread, is that there are two different kinds of FIX-IT windows. The first one after Ship is truly just for fixing things. You can build SPARE and REPLACEMENT parts, but not UPGRADES. Only in the ones that start with Week 1 Regionals can you build UPGRADE parts. (Ref: <R29> vs <R32>)
