programming 2006 FRC robot controller

So our robot controller board broke earlier in the season so we got a 2006 FRC robot controller from our mentor team. We are using a fifth degree polynomial function to lessen the sensitivity of the analog sticks we're using for the controller. It used to work perfectly with our old robot controller, but now with the 2006 one, the buttons don't seem work as "snappy" as the other board did. Could there be some problem with the board and it's compatibility with our code?
