Re: Does anyone else get depressed when they ship their robot?

Not really depressed...more like drained....and tired after spending all day driving 200 miles and delivering it to the drayage terminal and 200 miles home.

We get to go out for pizza tonight, as a family, and see some non-robot friends! wow!

The depression is worst when I go home and don't have anything to do but luckily the NJ regional is in less than 9 days

Why not use the free fedex freight shipment?

Re: Does anyone else get depressed when they ship their robot?

In previous years I hated to see it go because I knew it wasn't "done". This year was a little easier because mechanically everything works. I just wish we could have let the programmers play with hybrid mode a little more. Oh well, I guess that's what Thursday is for!
See you at Chesapeake!

Re: Does anyone else get depressed when they ship their robot?

I was talking to a couple of new parents at the scrimmage that ausTIN CANs put on here in Austin on Saturday. I told them that the students (and mentors) will be tired and will also feel a let down/sadness after ship. I think it is because they won't see their 'team mate' for a while along with getting used to not having the pace and schedule of build. I have a picture from 2004 where the team is walking away as the FedEx truck is leaving with PHlappy. It shows the slump in their shoulders. Good food, some rest, and maybe some fun team building exercises will help cheer everyone up. Also, the Fix It Windows to plan and look forward to and of course, our regionals. Woohoo!

Re: Does anyone else get depressed when they ship their robot?

I still have to coordinate our award entries, our team shirts, presentation boards, spare parts, tool crate and juggle a job hunt. I have more than enough to keep me busy until we compete next week.

Re: Does anyone else get depressed when they ship their robot?

It's bittersweet. I'm totally drained and I look forward to some R&R but it's always sad to see a build season end but after Atlanta is worse. I have FLR and Championship too look forward too and Webcasts in between.

On another note I hope everyone's build season went well and good luck at your various regionals.
