Lifting a student...?

What motor are you driving that arm with and with what ratio?

i believe there is a rule that says u can only drive 5 ft per sec. or was it 5 meters. idk.

a little overkill on the arm lift mechanism. thats greatwish we had sumtin that strong. we got a huge 2ft air piston.

There isn't a speed limit on THIS track. Whoever told you there was doesn't know the rules. (That said, 5 m/s is the practical maximum of speed that is controllable.)

Ryan--2004 and 2006 both had rules like that. 2004:10 fps on whatever contacted the bar. 2006: 12 m/s launch velocity on a poof ball. No other speed limits that I know about.

There is no rule limiting how fast you go. I believe there was in the past (2005 if I remember right) That's pretty much one of the main points of the game... to go as fast as possible.

All I can say is, with that kind of lifting capability there's endless possibilities for what you can do with it off-season.

lol well, we had the weight, so we put on some extra motors. The arm is just that much easier to control because it is difficult to back-drive.

Yes, the plotting starts now...
The only problem is that the chain tensioner slides up the arm when too much force is applied - thus loosening the chain so it must be re-tightened.

Meh.... It happens, I was hoping the slotting in the gearbox mount would clamp well enough.... But, just too much load on that length of chain.

We'll work at the meeting tomorrow to plan a simple tensioner we can build on Thursday.

the gear reduction is rather hodgepodge. We had banebots fail due to shaft misalignment, so last minute we made a SUPER HODGEPODGE gearbox from AndyMark. It required just one plate to be cut, and one shaft modified. It is the 2 FPs and the RS550 motors going into AM planetaries, from there they drive (with 14T pinions for the FP, and 12T for the 550) the 50T from the stackerbox, that is the input using the 14T from the stackerbox to an AM toughbox with both stages. The output shaft is a modified SS long wheel shaft because the stock wasn't long enough.

The sprocket reduction is a 14:36 in #25, then a 10:60 in #35. This puts the overall reduction on the arm at ~ 2580:1 from the FP motor.

If you're at SVR or Vegas, check the arm gearbox out, it certainly is cool looking.
