Re: pic: lift setup
Looks nice. Does your arm and ball combination weigh 30~35 lbs all together?
If so, with the right gearing and decent bearings on your arm, my calculations tell me you should only need one CIM motor. (A cim motor puts out about 245.5Wo at the shaft at 40A). To lift a 30lb weight in 2 seconds, you should need about 204W mechanical. Shiniest gearbox i've ever seen. Looks great. Got any video of it running? 120" is a long way! -q p.s. What's the window motor for? |

Re: pic: lift setup
video coming soon.
it originally had only one cim on it, but it was deff straining a bit. the 8020 stock added alot of weight and i supersized some of the forklift/mounting peices. another team member and i had 7 different forklift prototypes before choosing the final. the flex points are right where they should be, as is the very ridgid, beefy areas. plus, we are only 90ish pounds so we figured what the heck, an extra cim wont hurt it. the window motor shown is so we can raise and lower the forks anytime. this is for safety during the match, and adds a third way to grasp the ball. |

the last stage, or few feet of movement, is not at full power. this was one of the first test runs and i wanted to baby it near the top. also, the baby-ing was done above the height needed to hurdle. the lift extends to 40 inches above the top of the rack. |
