yeah, ours is a mess too. We send out some of our members to clean it out, but they haven't returned yet, so we got a problem....

Re: Dirty Shop

Ours is usually pretty clean, seeing as it shares a room with the school's electronics lab. We have to not only put every thing away every night but lock it up as well.

This last week of build how ever has fallen on the school's midwinter break so over the course of the week it looked like a disaster area.

So while software working on the coding on Sunday I spent some time cleaning the shop up, so now it looks like this.

1135 has a similar situation--one of the build areas for FLL, FTC and FRC is a math classroom at their school. The others are the multi-purpose room next door and a small closet. All of which need to be clean for school. No matter how messy it gets, it gets cleaned up before leaving.

Re: Dirty Shop

We keep our shop fairly clean, even though there no longer are any tech ed classes in the school that use the room. Tools are always put away, and sawdust, PVC debris and metal shavings are swept up. Saturday evenings are usually the worst, as we know we'll just be back there again on Sunday to mess it up again - and there won't be anyone in the school in the meantime to see it.

We moved out of the school to our mentor's place of business Saturday afternoon before ship. School is off this week, and we didn't want to take a chance on shipping. So we cleaned it up very well on Saturday. Although another dad and I made a bit of a mess constructing our pit display frames, which we didn't get a chance to clean up before the custodian was ready for us to leave Sunday night.

We also had to keep the area clean where the team was working on the robot on Sunday and Monday. Monday afternoon the team gave a driving demonstration to the engineers and execs of the company. One more late night on Monday, including weight reduction and replacing a bent drive shaft, and it was clean up again.

Link to previous build season time lapses show our shop slowly descend to chaos.

Re: Dirty Shop

We got given an abandoned wood shop in the back of the school, no one else used it except us, the janitors don't even go in there, I don't know if they know it even exists at this point. We keep it reasonably clean.... although there seems to be a permanent white dust carpet on the cement floor, just walk around to a couple minutes and you'll leave footprints on a clean surface. We try to sweep but it doesn't work that well, just stirs up the dust.

It's very organized tho... just really dirty...

Today was supposed to be our clean up day, but it pretty much deteriorated into Trackball surfing.

Re: Dirty Shop

Idk it's awkward but you know whenever we clean the shop we can't seem to find anything. Or at least I can't because noone puts stuff where it's supposed to go. I like the shop being kind of messy actually. Helps me get work done faster.
