Dear everybody,
Has anyone managed to remove the pinion from the shaft of the drill motor or the fisher price motor? if so I would be very thankfull if you were to post just how you did this. Does anybody evean know how they are attached? it looks like they are pressed on but that doesent seem correct.

The pinions are pressed on.

We have never pressed off the Fisher-Price pinion, but have often pressed of the pinion on the drill motors.

Basically, we mount the motor in a plate and used 2 big screw drivers to pry off the pinion.

If you are not going to try to use the pinion afterwards, you may try using a dremel to gently cut off the pinion. You will have to be careful not to damage the motor shaft, but it can be done. If you use this method, be sure to tape up the motor first in order to keep the dust out of the motor.

Greetings;

Our machinist showed me a little trick...

He took a piece of steel, thin enough to fit between the pinion and the motor top, and cut a slot in it slightly wider than the shaft. He then slid this plate in, supported it on each side in an arbor press, and used a pin punch to press the motor out the bottom (catch it before it hits the floor!).

Works as well with a vice and a hammer, if need be.

We needed to press off both pinions, and reinstall the drill motor ones on another shaft.
