Wildstang & Team Hammond + Thoughts on the CA Regional...
Posted by Joe Johnson.   [PICTURE: SAME | NEW | HELP]
Engineer on team #47, Chief Delphi, from Pontiac Central High School and Delphi Automotive Systems. I don't recall Chief Delphi ever having such a high score (match points not qualifying points), but I can't be sure. I think that Motorola Wildstang scored in the high thirties a few times in Chicago while their opponent scored in the high twenties. Also, one of the last qualifying matches had Team Hammond (a.k.a. Beatty) losing a match thirty something to thirty something. As Bill and Brian tell it, they had the match won but for a last minute fall (off the bar or the ramp -- can't recall) by their alliance partner. I am sorry that I missed that match! Any other high scoring rounds? Do tell. Joe J. P.S. I am watching the CA Regional as I type this. After 7 rounds the #1 seed has something like 35 Q-points per match. Team #60, Ford & Kingman H.S., is in the lead with a pretty effective basket and hanger. There seem to be a LOT of robots playing defense. Many 7 to 6 rounds. A few 10 - 0 rounds. I even saw a 0 to 0 round. Seems like a pretty tough neighborhood. I will be glad to switch to NASA TV from this chop realvideo webcast tomorrow. |
