To hang or not to hang... ...That is a question we may or may not answer.

All we'll say for sure is that CD V has not hung during a competition to date.

Will it hang in FL?

Depends on whether we need it to hang I suppose ;-)

See you in FL.

I would not at all be surprised if CDV could hang. We have been using the '98 Bobcat for driver training, and I know that it can hang, even before we put hooks on it. Anyone who remembers the '98 machine and has seen CDV would have to admit that they are at least distant cousins.

The only thing that would make it impossible for CDV to hang is if the hanging arrangement put all 130lbs of the robot on the motor(s) for extending and retracting the arm and that motor coudln't provide enough torque after power down to keep the arm from extending under the weight of the machine.

I guess that time will tell.

Torque? Yes we have torque. Wait and see. Surprises yet to come.

I have a guess at another trick. Haven't heard anyone mention it and can't quite tell from the pictures, but... Is it poosible for another robot to drive into CDV's 'mouth' when it is fully open? I'll be stopping by on Thursday to check it out.
