Any sound engineers out there?

Here's my issue(s)

I'm trying to create a karaoke track for a party I'm holding, and I have no idea how to do it.

My problem is in fact 2 fold:

1) How do I convert an MPEG-4 audio file to MP3? Anyone able to help me with just that would be great.

2) Anyone know how to remove vocals from tracks?

Basically if anyone can help me at all it'd be a tremendous favor.
