Popular misconseption... :-P
Posted by Lee Sussman.
Student on team #95, Lebanon Robotics Team, LRT, from Lebanon Highschool and Crrel. Posted on 4/14/2000 7:45 AM MST I would just like to clear up a popular misconseption about team 95 (us), the LRT. Our bot is NOT in fact named after a grasshopper. It is named after Grace Hopper, who was a rear admiral in the navy in the 40's and coined the term 'computer bug' when she found a moth in one of the tubes in ENIAC. Our mascot is the grasshopper because it sounds like Grace Hopper (Grace Hopper, Grasshopper), and because, like the moth in eniac, it is a bug. Just a bit of engineering humer. This also explains our Y2K slogan, (LRT Y2K, No Bugs). I just thought that I would bring this to the attention of the general public. Thanx all, good luck in future competitions!!! |
