BuzzScout; A FIRST Search Engine

Posted by Mike Dubreuil.

The Buzz team has realized that with the growing number of FIRST teams with websites finding the website you are looking for is a tough job. Therefore, the web development team at BuzzRobotics.org designed and built BuzzScout, a FIRST search engine.

BuzzScout can search for a team's web site by team number, team name, team location, or personalized keywords. Visit it today. Search.BuzzRobotics.org

FIRST Webmasters, please visit to find out how you can get a better listing in the database.

Can a Non-Team page be added?

Mike,

Is there a way I can get my FIRST-a-holics Anonymous webpage included in the BuzzScout Database? I've been lazy and haven't put in meta tags yet, but that is not a problem and only takes a few minutes to do.

Lora

Sure,
I had not thought of that; but, since your site is about FIRST, and there may be others like it, I will add that feature. I'll e-mail you when I make that avaliable, which should be in the next couple days.

Thanks Mike. I just really thought about it since even at the FIRST site, all you can find links to is the 'official' team page from any given team. I looked at the current site, and I love it! Keep up the great work.

Lora

Isn't this already available by going to 'Team Home Pages' on the FIRST site? Maybe I am missing something.

Well, yes and no. You can go to there and find all the teams. That's what the search engine does. But you have to look through the whole list to get what you want.
Let's say you know the teams' sponsor 'UTC'. By doing a search for UTC you will end up with all the UTC teams with websites. This search could have done on your own at FIRST's webpage list, with a little effort.
However, let's say you don't know where the Viking Robotics website is. By just knowing nick-names and pieces of information like that, it would take you a very long time to find their site at FIRST's webpage list. You can do a search at BuzzScout for 'Viking' and you will get their site instantly.
