Re: IR

no its not legal, if you want have button 1 be motor on and have a timer count down for so long and then have the motor turn off, then press button as many times as needed and then that also opens up your other two buttons

You can't say 'press 1x for 2 seconds, 2x for 4 seconds, etc". Each action must occur after each press and each action must be repeatable. So having it be a sort of incrementing counter (say I press it 6x in quick succession) doesn't mean I could have 12seconds of motor running.

Unless I misunderstood what you were saying.

Re: IR

Seems like a semantics thing - if I make Button 1: "Run the motor for 2 seconds" I could press it 6 times, once every 2 seconds...I don't know about a button for "Run the motor for 2 more seconds"...

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do with these motors. If you're driving with the IR remote, it might be easier to just have it move continuously and give it a stop button or something - like "Move [direction]" for the first three buttons and "Stop" for the fourth, with the most recent button pressed overriding other commands.

Re: IR

What isn't repeatable by "run motor for 2 seconds" in response
to a button press? Is there anything in the rules that says that
the action in response to the button press must occur immediately?

It seems that this would be closer to the spirit of the rule
than having a button "speed up by 10%" and a button "slow
down by 10%".
