Re: Pit Size
I seem to remember from somewhere that the minimum pit size is 8' by 8' by 10' high. I'd make any structures so that they fit both minimum and maximum (i.e., make an 8' by 8' structure that can be expanded to 10' by 10', or vice versa).

Re: Pit Size
St. Louis was 9 x 10 x 10. We hung over a bit but our gracious neighbors let us.
Thanks |

Re: Pit Size
Pit sizes vary between venues. I think NJ's was 10x10x10. Try contacting BandChick she might have the exact size for NJ.

Philly is always smaller, and height can be an issue there too. I suggest modeling for 9x9x9, just so you have buffer room if you need it. =) |

Re: Pit Size
Does anyone know how big the pits at Lone Star will be this year? Since it's at the Merrell Center this year, which I've heard is smaller, is there a chance they might be smaller than 10x10x10?We have a 10x10x10 PVC frame from last year that worked out great. It can be cut down smaller pretty easily, but it would really have to be done before we get to the competition.

Oh thought you might, it was worth a shot I do agree with Sara though make the pits 9x9x9 that way you have extra room that you can use for aisles and such if you should need it. |

Re: Pit Size
Can anyone PM me with the size at Silicon Valley and Las Vegas? My friend is drawing up our pit layout, but he can't find the size and my cursory look over hasn't turned up anything. Thank you!

Re: Pit Size
Wow thanks for all the help guys. I think we are gonna go with the 9x9x9 design and maybe make the sides extend the other foot if we can afford the space.

Re: Pit Size
quick warning, your one team may get shorted on size, all pits at a regional aren't the same size. At MWR our pit was 8ft 4in wide and 10ft deep, while everyone around us had a 10ft wide pit. We still fit everything it was a little cramped though.

This year we reduced pit width (side-to-side) from 10ft. to 9ft. We did it so we could reduce the number of aisles four to three and increase aisle width from 10ft. to 13ft. The goal was to keep traffic congestion to a minimum, and still have space for a practice carpet. A few teams with pre-built 10ft. wide pit structures had to adjust, or borrow space from neighbors. I think the T-Kats made a good decision to reduce their pit structure size so it fits (barely) in a 9ft. wide space. Pit space at some venues is even tighter than ours in St. Louis. |

Re: Pit Size
I was one of the 3 people to go into the pits early, our pit was designed for 10x10x10 as stated by the rules, we started setting up and realized it was a little small,
8x9 , we had to leave off a desk and move some banners around to make the size constraintsI really loved CORE's pit: clean, simple, same, and very nice looking |

Re: Pit Size
Our pit at St. Louis was less than 9' wide. I'm glad we made our space flexible this year.

Re: Pit Size
NJ is usually 10x10, and if you're lucky enough to be in the outer ring (You won't be though, if 1228 is your number), or on the end of one of the rows, you usually wind up with some extra space.
