Student Ambassadors at the Chesapeake Regional give tours to the dozens of VIPs that visit the regional, it is their job to educate these valued members of society and sell FIRST, the roll is quite fun actually, its a great opportunity to meet members of the government and corporations

Cool, actually sounds like what I do already with the parents that come to regionals. How do I become a student ambassador? And when does the touring take place b/c I still have to help the scouting team. If you're the head of this, please PM me.

MORT's always there for this kind of stuff

an email was sent to one of your advisors regarding this, ask around and figure out which one got it, else Mrs. Jenny Beatty would be the one to speak to, she should be able to redirect you to the Ambassador Coordinator

Your advisors have received information so ask them how to sign up.
Training will be on Thursday and then Student Ambassadors sign up for time slots on Friday or Sat. Tours are given to VIPs, parents, school groups, and the public.

Due to high security levels at the USNA, there will be NO webcast from any source at the Chesapeake Regional.

Thats unfortunate. I totally understand any special security concerns. However, we still plan to, pending approval, record the regional and possibly broadcast it locally at the event.

Related but different, would there be a way to archive the matches after the fact via SOAP or TBA?

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional

Hello, everyone! This is Amanda from Team 75, the RoboRaiders. Since there is less than a WEEK until Chesapeake, I wanted to wish all of the teams that will be attending the best of luck. Chesapeake is an amazing regional with all wonderful teams in attendance.

On behalf of Team 75, I would like to express that if any help is needed during the regional in any way, Team 75 will be more than happy to lend a hand. This can include anything from tools, mechanical help, volunteers, etc.

If you happen to see me at the Regional (I am a little redhead wearing a red Team 75 shirt), please feel free to say hey!

Can't wait to see you all!
Thank you!!

Amanda

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional

As I sit writing my packing list, it occurs to me that I often carry a knife to regional competitions. I was wondering if security at the academy would have a problem with this. If I do not get a sure answer, I will err on the side of caution, but I would like to bring my knife as it is a useful tool.

Pack it with your tools.
I wouldn't count on it making it through security at Gate 1 if you are walking on.

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional

My girlfriend and I have been vacationing in New York City for the first half of the week (hooray spring break!); we'll be riding the rails down to Washington to rendezvous with the Capitals tomorrow night. I can't wait.

(Alright, so I could wait to get my iTunes movie rental to finish downloading on the slow-as-molasses wireless, but given the choice between The Matrix and Chesapeake, I think we know what I'd choose.)
