Chairman Power Point Presentation

Hello I'm Armando from team 1872 and would like to know if any team can show us the presentation they used for the Chairman's award, this is our first year trying to compete for it and we would like to know the stuff we need to include.

Thanks a bunch

PS: Yes, I know this should be posted on the Chairman's thread but not many people read that.

Re: Chairman Power Point Presentation

If you look at the websites of many teams, you can see the posters that they had used. As you may have heard, powerpoint presentations are not really recommended due to the fact that it is very time consuming to set up a projector.
MOE has their posters posted on their team website

Does anyone know how many people make the interview? Maybe the judges can see it on a laptop and we don't have to complicate everything with a projector.

Re: Chairman Power Point Presentation

3 people go in the present to a panel of 3 judges....
our team had used a powerpoint presentation last year and we were told to not do a powerpoint because it is hard to see (you are typically standing about 5 - 10 ft away from the judges depending on regionals)

Re: Chairman Power Point Presentation

IMHO, i would stay away from multimedia presentation.

this year our presentation was just the three students talking in a rehearsed manor, saying key points we wanted to say, and then let the judges ask questions they may have.

Last year we did a video with a lot of our alum, and it really took away from the presentation because the presenters just kinda sat there, and were "back up" for the computer.

Re: Chairman Power Point Presentation

I agree with the others here and think you are better with posters, photos, and just talking, instead of a powerpoint slide show.

You only have 5 minutes to talk - you need to make the best of it, and even the best prepared presentations and computers can malfunction - lock-up, go into a power down mode - etc.

The judges are really more interested in content than fancy presentations.

Actually, with my experience of going into the interveiw 3 times, I can tell you that there are always different settings. At BMR, we had a 4ft. diameter circular table with three judges on one side, no room on the table, and no chairs to sit in. In St. Louis we had about 3 feet between us three and the two judges in a room that is barley big enough to hold two people. In Atlanta we had a standard table (3X8) with plenty of room, and four judges across from us. The room also was HUGE and you were in the center of it.

P.S. We made a book instead of posters and then we left the books with the judges.
