Re: 2008 Finger Lakes Regional

Once again, the FLR regional was a fantastic FIRST regional in many ways:

* Competition - terrific and very competitive teams
* Organization - everything ran very well
* Venue - thanks RIT
* Volunteers - you all make it happen
* Friendliness of teams - the event feels like one big family having a reunion

Congratulations to GRR Team 340 on the Regional Chairman's Award. Thanks for the goodie bags at the hotel! We were honored to have you guys as our pit neighbors! Also, we want to thank Jason Rees for the nice send off he gave us on our bus as we were braving the snow and ice-covered Rochester roads on the trip home. You guys are a great team!

Congrats to Rolling Thunder 1511 on receiving the Engineering Inspiration Award. You guys are doing wonderful things to inspire. Keep it up!

Winning alliance - 20, 191, 2053, 174 - you guys rocked! We had tough matches against you in the semis. You all executed a great game strategy.

Thanks to the co-emcees, Steve Warren and John V Neun! It was great having you both work this regional (and JVN, I like your new checkered bandana)!

MOE 365 would like to thanks 1507 for selecting us as their partner for theelims. Also, a big thanks to our third partner, T-Rx 145! You both made fantastic partners and were great to work with.

MOE really loves the FLR regional. Thanks to everyone who put such hard work into making this such a sucess!

Wow, what a regional! I would like to thank everyone who helped out my team, especially 2053, for giving us a key part that broke.

moe, your robot is amazing, I thought we would go 2 and out against it

congrats to 340 and 1511!

even though it took us 5 hours to get home last night, I'd do it all over again ^.^

Re: 2008 Finger Lakes Regional

I'm working on getting some of the matches on the internet as soon as possible...

Just so you know
- While the cable cast quality was a little on the poor side to begin with I have set my recorder to capture it at the highest quality possible as a result the file size will be fairly big.
-Fridays Opening Ceremony is captured.
-Fridays Award Ceremony was cut off by mcc broadcasting (yell at mcc not me)
- I do have saturdays award ceremony captured.
- Saturdays opening ceremony is captured
- I should have fridays footage matches, ceremonies, and so on, on the internet by this weekend.
- I should have saturday's footage on the internet by the weekend after this weekend.

I would like to thank the Warlocks and Moe for picking us for their final alliance partner. I would also like to thank Moe once again for letting us barrow your Bimba air cylinder. With out that we wouldn't of been able to compete.

Re: 2008 Finger Lakes Regional

What a regional this was this year! This is the first regionals we've won in six years, and I'm overly excited for our team. Overall, this year's one of the best.

I'm disappointed for 191 because their arm broke after the first match in finals, I hope you guys get that fixed soon! It'd be a shame to not see you guys at Nationals.

Thank you VERY much to team 2043/Tigertronics. They lent us an extra robot controller after ours was ripped and destroyed during a match (which was the reason why we were incapacitated during one of our matches). I'm glad you guys are on our alliance this year.

Team 365/MOE, you guys were a tough one to beat. Your robot was great this year, I'm sure you all worked hard on it.

& congratulations to teams 340 and 1511!

Thanks for the support... we are still confused at what really caused the damage but we definitely could fix it for Buckeye in a few weeks.

Your robot is quite impressive, especially the hybrid mode. Good luck on your next competition.

Also, i dont know if there is a video up, but when 272 shot their ball over the middle divider and it hit 1126's ball and stopped it from scoring, It had to have been the best play there for me

Re: 2008 Finger Lakes Regional

I won't pretend to speak for the rest of Team 1507, but I'm sure they'll express similar sentiments...

After having most of our team turned back to the school by the snow and a cranky school bus driver, we scrambled to get just a drive team there. I know I was pleasantly surprised that despite that, we did so well. Many, many thanks to all the teams who came up to us and offered help, even if it was just to cheer for us and make up for the lack of our team in the stands.

It was hard making alliance decisions. Choosing MOE was a great choice, but there could have been many other equally good choices. T-RX was a great partner too. I wasn't closely involved in the decision making, but I know a lot of close choices were involved. Both teams had a good chemistry with our drivers and we're proud of how we all played, even if we were eliminated.

Congratulations to the winning alliance 191, 20, 2053 and 174.

Thanks to our neighbor team, 378, the Circuit Stompers. We were rooting for you in the final round, congrats on the silver and thanks for helping us load our trailer. See you at GTR!

We had a long, harrowing ride home through the snow, but afaik we all made it back safely. We'll look forward to next year's FLR - hopefully without the snowstorm!

That was one of the most nuts and crazy thing I've ever seen at FLR...other than the huge topple of Tetras in Triple play.

there was also the part when MOE was falling and the track ball fell on the top of the middle wall and rolled close to the overpass. If only it landed on the overpass that would have been the most incredible thing ever.

FLR got so much fun at the Elims. Good times!

He wasn't feeling good for the rest of the day, but medically he is stable. His blood sugar was very very low since he didn't eat that morning. It was an huge shock when he hit my shoulder (I thought he was messing around) and then I realized something happened when he kept going to the floor. Thank you for asking. I would like to thank the mentor from Sparx who was there trying to help our mentors with him.

What I find a little strange is that a mentor was telling a couple of us not to fool around cause they didn't want to take any of us to the hospital. So that was a huge, wow for me.

Thank you everyone.
