Re: vid: Baxter Bomb Squad Midwest 2008

Pretty good for Week 1.

Got anything special in mind for the Bayou? Like knocking down two balls in hybrid mode?

Oh, just in case you think the West Coast robots are "cream-puffs", BeachBots got 57 hurdles and High Rollers 54 in San Diego (although they did play a couple of extra elimination round matches than Bomb Squad).

Re: vid: Baxter Bomb Squad Midwest 2008

Having seen them up close in Chicago, I can attest that the Baxter Bomb Squad are indeed the real deal. Their pickup is smooth and their launch is powerful. I expect them to be one of the top contenders at the Championship in April. This machine reminds me of the classic BBS robots from 1998-2000, when they consistently mastered every challenge put forward by FIRST.

I love "flop" bots It's a shame there aren't more but I really like How you were able to make your accumulator as wide as you did. Excellent work, and I hope to see you in atlanta

They've competed every year, Baxter did not sponsor them for (I think) the past two years. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

We lost our Baxter sponsorship after the 2004 season. Since then we have been sponsored by our non-profit corporation, the Science and Technology Group. STG is still our partner, but this year we did receive substantial financial suppport from Baxter Healthcare and about half of our mentors are Baxter employees.

And we missed them! As always, the Bomb Squad fielded a fast robot (2003 was killer machine) that is efficient at game play and a unique design. And as always we learned something from them.
