Re: Anyone else wear their operator badge to school?

I don't wear badges to school but I do wear my t-shirts from last year, and I have an alien toy I got from one of the teams at the championship with me.

I always dispute about that with the guards at school. They say it is not school uniform but I tell them it is because our team mentor said so.

I just cannot imagine bringing any other souvenirs like Frisbee to show to the school community..
It will be either stolen or considered "suspicious" by the guards
just kiddin'! They would love to play with it

Re: Anyone else wear their operator badge to school?

I never really thought about wearing it to school until now. If we have the same success in Philly that we did in Jersey I am going to wear it. Not many people in my school know about the team, maybe if I wear the badge they will ask questions and we will get more support.

Precisely, exactly.
Our team wears their team shirt to school following competition. If they have garnered medals, they wear those and the badges are medals of honor for - every - drive team. One of our drivers kept all of his badges over the 4 years of his high school career. He was very proud of them and made a wall display of them in his room. One or two of the drivers have given me their badge and wrist bands in the past. I still have them and treasure them as memories.

Re: Anyone else wear their operator badge to school?

Yeah we have pride week this week. I am totally going to wear my badge one of the days. Just because its the only sport I do in school and I should show my pride during pride week correct? And the badge is pretty spiffy looking.

It would provide a really super opportunity to try out your elevator speech. (That brief speech that has been prepared that explains robotics and FIRST. )

Re: Anyone else wear their operator badge to school?

I think the week after Atlanta every driver, opertor, robocoach, and coach should all wear their badges to school. If the coach is a teach that is. Otherwise only wear it if doesnt have the chance of getting you in trouble.

Re: Anyone else wear their operator badge to school?

Because I was the driver this year, I doubt I will be allowed to drive next year (so more people get to), so I will wear my badge this week and keep it on my backpack until I graduate

Last year was our rookie year and all the graduating senior team members wore their medallions to graduation.
I guess that puts FIRST right up there with NHS!

The two years that I was human player I wore them on my bag pack. Now that I graduated they are pinned on my wall with my team shirts.
