Anyone can watch Westcoast Choppers and see adults build things, but FIRST is great because it encourages kids to do the building and adults to do the watching.

GO DANVILLANS!!

yes SVR was exciting, i was one of the scorekeepers.. im still in shock. but i think the refs did what they thought was best and we got to respect that. all in all SVR was great, we were running on time and alot of great teams this year! i loved 190s design. very impressive. Re: Most Exciting Final?

I am disappointed that blue lost the match, but the SVR regional had to be the most exciting I saw. I was sitting there like "oh my god, are they really gonna do a redo." Yeah it was pretty exciting. At least know I dont feel like I wasted my saturday. J/k

Re: Most Exciting Final?

I think that FLR final was extremely exciting.

20, 191, 2053 (red) vs 1126, 378, 1551 (blue) for the first match: 80-68.

Then 191's arm completely broke off. A replacement robot was needed. 174 was brought in but red lost the second match 50-68. Then red won the final match 66-60 with a penalty deciding the match.

You may look at the lower scores than some regional finals and scoff at the lower quality of play but that was largely due to great defense. 1126, 378, 1551 had played 5 matches before the finals. They averaged 81.2 points per match and only once scored below 74 points and only twice below 82 points. They were held to 68, 68, 60 points in the finals.

Offense is great to watch but its even more exciting when you add a defensive element to it, so that it involves more strategy than just lets try to get as many hurdles as possible. Notice when people are praising the SD regional, they call it a great match between 4 hurdlers. FLR wasn't between 4 robots, it was between 7 robots (including the replacement).
