Re: 2008 Connecticut Regional

What a weekend!

First off, I just want to thank everyone who made this weekend such a great success for New England FIRST. This truely was a great event and that couldn't have happened without all the great teams and volunteers in attendance.

Congrats to 1124, 175, and 716!

I have to say, 1124 and 175 may be the most dangerous robots I have seen this year. I guess arm bots are just as effective as shooters afterall. Throughout the weekend, nobody was as fast as Buzz at picking up and delivering track balls...all I have to say is watch out, they are a major force this year.

Also congrats to 236 for another Chairmans victory!

Now...its time to get rest!

I take it Buzz's arm is no longer breaking off their stops? If they've fixed that for good, then they'll make at least division champion.

But 142! 142 IS A LOT OF POINTS! Please put this match on TBA like now, so I can watch it. Please! Or at least a summary to tide me over.

I dont think that a summary would do it justice... but basically we had a small advantage during autonomous, and just kept scoring after that. trackball after trackball after trackball. It was like a maximum sort of thing- the alliance came together and worked at 100%. 1124 and 175 were able to score freely, while 716 played EXCELLENT defense and kept the other alliance from scoring while also keeping them out of our faces. it was perfect.

you will have to wait until the video gets blue-allianced before seeing it (=

Thanks to Teams 1124 and 716 and all of the other 59 teams there for making BUZZ's return to the CT Regional a truly memorable OVERDRIVE experience. We've been away (@Chesapeake) for a couple years and it is always good to return to the "Home Zone".

Re: 2008 Connecticut Regional

First of all, congratulations to all of the amazing teams and robots I saw at the Connecticut Regional. There were so many unique ideas, and things that worked so well for all of you. (You have no idea how hard it is to only pick two teams to be on your alliance! Couldn't it have been one alliance of 62 robots?)

Team 236, congratulations for winning the Chairman's Award. The work your team does is amazing, and you truly deserved it.

Teams 230, 61, and 1991, thanks for being great opponents. You were fun to play against and you put up a great fight. Congratulations on your great robots and all your hard work to get as far as you did.

Teams 175, and 716, thank you so much for working with us! You guys were amazing partners, and our team never would have been able to do so well without your help. You let us keep our undefeated record, and have the "threepeat" ... both of which I can't believe really happened.

To all the people who congratulated our alliance, thank you for your kind words.

And to the guy from team 716, I'm really glad we got to work with you, too. Some of the people on our team who weren't connected with the alliance partners decision looked at your ranking and were shocked. (This is why we don't go by ranking numbers, we go by robot performance and capabilities.) You guys deserved another chance, and we wanted to give it to you, just like team 177 took a chance on us back in 2006.

you forgot team 2621, who showed great gracious professionalism in untipping us in our last qualifying match. You guys had a great robot, and thoroughly deserved the rookie all-star award that you got. We look forward to seeing you guys again in Atlanta, if you decide to go.

I didn't mean to leave them out... like I said, there were so many great teams at the regional- it's hard to remember everyone that was there and deserved a thank-you or a congratulations. I told them at the regional that their team was well beyond their years in all the things that go into FIRST, and I am very glad they won that award. They certainly deserved it.

It looked just like the photo of the large gear in the "FTC Blog".

Sorry for any confusion I caused with my earlier post - yes, I had ONE gear from the new kit. I didn't mean to imply that I had a whole kit.

Sorry for misunderstanding your post. I guess I am kind of anxious for the release of more information. Kathie is there any way they could speed this up. In the most recent video on the blog they show a functioning robot. If FIRST wants us to support this new initiative we need as much info ASAP.
