hmm.... forget footballs frisbees and whatever else. What do you have to say about getting points for scoring other robots??? for example have a series of lines that are worth a certain ammount of points in between each line. sort of like a robot demolition derby or maybe tug-of-war I'll let you all be the judge to decide if I am kidding or not about that! :-)

: Question 7/17/00:
: What kind of goal would you like to see in next years game?

As long as there are two functions (object scoring only counting as one no matter how many ways the points works) to the goal I will be satisfied. Such as Double Trouble when there were points (well multipliers anyway) for being on top of the puck and also points for raising the floppies. Or last year when you could score by putting balls in the rack and also by hanging on the bar or being on the ramp.

For the goal, I think a half of a half-pipe at one or both ends of the field ( \--------/)

Just to throw a curveball (no pun intended), it seems like the competitions are usually about picking up objects and manipulating them in some way. How about expanding our thinking outside of the ball game box and thinking creatively about other things that a robot might be able to do. Here are some ideas off the top of my head. How about an obstacle course once (a la Dean's wheelchair). How about taking some raw material and manufacturing something? To pursue the alliance theme, how about something that would require two robots to accomplish the task, as in some initiative games - bots must assist each other or the task can't be completed. Maybe disassembling or assembling something or reassembling it, building something. Bear in mind that I'm just brainstorming here.

You know we were saying the exact same thing a few days ago. What if we had to work with a another robot to do a task that a single robot could no do alone.

A new twist to the alliance idea.
