Why is shell unzipping so slow! I've already edited the registry to send all unzipping to 7zip. I'm still trying to disable DWM.

A few other sites have noted about the slowing of disk read/write speeds. Anybody else notice anything?

I don't know... it's a real pain though. I think it does a virus scan or calculates the time to unzip, two features I can live without...

If you switch to Vista Basic theme, and disable the service called "Desktop Window Manager Sesson Manager" DWM should be completely disabled.

The slow read/write speeds could be due to the fack that

The Windows Vista SP1 install process clears the user-specific data that is used by Windows to optimize performance, which may make the system feel less responsive immediately after install. As the customer uses their SP1 PC, the system will be retrained over the course of a few hours or days and will return to the previous level of responsiveness.
