Re: pic: C.O.R.E. Pit
It takes some time to set up but it really is worth it because we can find anything we need and everything has it's place. We continually strive to improve all aspects of the team, robot, and the pit. We have team members that clean up and put things away when the robot is not in the pit. There is constant care put into making sure the PIT is as spotless as we can make it. A clean pit is a safe pit. Continual improvement is key. This is an old photo from St. Louis. Is there one from Milwaukee?

Re: pic: C.O.R.E. Pit
Many of the posts so far comment on how clean and organized the PIT is. We have a check list we use to help keep the PIT in a safe and organized state. I was looking to attach it to this thread but it is not letting me.
It is not as clean but the following is the check list. Let us know what you think. C.O.R.E. 2062 SAFETY INSPECTION FOR PIT Date & Time: Inspector(s): . A. HAND & PORTABLE TOOLS Y NOTES 1. Are powered tools in good condition with no evidence of damage? 2. Are tools properly stored when not in use? 3. Are guards and safety devices in place and operational? 4. Are tools clean and free of oil or grease? 5. Tools have no tape or homemade modifications / extensions. B. CHEMICALS Y NOTES 1. Is MSDS binder available to everyone and all aware of it? 2. Is chemical clean-up kit available? 3. Is leaking battery kit available? C. ELECTRICAL Y NOTES 1. Are batteries visibly Ok, terminals not bent, no cracks in case? 2. Do unconnected batteries have protector safety plugs? 3. Do battery chargers have sufficient space for air circulation? 4. Are battery chargers unplugged when not in use? 5. Are cords and plugs in good condition with grounding connections where applicable? 6. Are electrical outlets overloaded? (Only one powerstrip per outlet) D. THE TEAM PIT STATION HOUSEKEEPING Y NOTES 1. Is team equipment within the designated space? Aisle clear? 2. Is the area free of slipping and tripping hazards? 3. Is the storage of materials orderly? 4. Are work surfaces neat and uncluttered? 5. Are 5S principles being followed? 6. Is garbage can available and emptied regularly? 7. Is broom and dustpan available and properly stored? E. EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT / EVACUATION Y NOTES 1. Are evacuation meeting points displayed? 2. Is team roster up-to-date and easily accessible in emergency? 3. Are all aisles to exit doors and exits unblocked? 4. Is fire extinguishers unblocked and accessible? 5. Is eyewash available and accessible. F. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) Y NOTES 1. Is PPE available for FRC participants and their visitors? 2. Re: pic: C.O.R.E. Pit
Great job, I've always envied the FRC pits wishing FTC teams had more than just a little table for their pit

Re: pic: C.O.R.E. Pit
Yes, we are all trained. The safety captain gives demos throughout the year on things like MSDS, PPE, Fire extinguisher, 5s, battery safety and so on. 2 weeks before competition, they are tested on them.

Our drivers wear them. They wear the hard hats and gloves. The hats are more to distinguish them.
