Go to Post If we can transform our culture to the point where girls swoon over guys as they pull their dremel off their belt and carve some speed holes in a smooth fluid motion, I think FIRST is half way to its goal. When we get the guys to swoon over the girls for their hot moves on the 5-axis, we have won. - EricVanWyk [more]

Washington FTC Spring Robo Fest

It's hard to believe that the FTC season is over so soon! But here's your chance to keep playing. In conjunction with FIRST Washington and LexisNexis Applied Discovery, we invite you to join us for the second annual Washington Spring Robot Fest. This will be a non-official FTC Scrimmage, and we will be playing QuadQuandry. We will follow tournament rules, including tech inspection, size limits, and parts restrictions. FIRST FTC rules are the rules of this event.

There may be other competitions, too, including the eagerly awaited "Predator vs. Prey" event, where mentors compete against students in QuadQuandry exhibition matches.

If you are an FRC team, buy a kit and join in. No registration fee means you can try out the other FIRST high school program at low cost. If you are an FTC team -- fix what didn't work on your robot at the official tournaments and get your revenge. Or, just come for some low-key fun with other robot enthusiasts.

FREE SOUVENIR T-SHIRTS TO ATTENDEES! (At least until they run out -- register early.) No registration fee, but please register so we know how many students to plan for. Last year we sent out for pizza and drinks for lunch -- we all pitched in.

Register soon by sending me an email, telling us how many students and how many robots you plan to bring. Did we mention that you can build new robots, too? We don't care how many you bring or when they were built, as long as the robots meet the FIRST FTC rules.

Saturday, May 10, doors open at 10:00, competition starts at 11:00.
Location: Sky Valley Education Center (high school) in Monroe, 17072
Tye St, Building B, Monroe, WA 98272-1527, Phone: 360-863-4720. (Don't use online map services, which for some reason don't give accurate directions to the school. We will publish driving directions soon.)

Hope you can make it!
