globe motor use?

Hi,

Our team is probably going to start introducing the staples of the kit to our new members soon, and this question came up. Out of all the motors, we know the practical uses of the drills, fisher price, van door, window, and seat...but does anyone know what the globe motor's practical application is? Does it even have a widespread use? Just curious.

The motor is used on GMC Jimmy's & Chevy Blazers. I think they are used on Tahoes & also some Ford transfer case applications as well.

Basically, the motor is used to shift the vehicle from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive & vice versa.

It is a great motor. Use it well.

P.S. Don't forget to support the end of the shaft with a 1/4 inch bearing. The transmision will last a lot longer that way. Don't learn this lesson the hard way. JJ

I thought that the globe motor was used to move globes? I don't know maybe it's just me. I thought it was used to turn those automatic globes. Basically it has alot of torque but is relatively slow. We used ours on our aquisition and just geared it right to speed it up.
