Re: BEST TEAM IDENTITY

BTW, I was talking about FTC. At peachtree, iHot is pretty noticable. They're always waving flags in the stands and their pit is really colorful. Plus, they hand out cool stuff that flashes.

But the first team to come to my mind was the thunderchickens, "Engineering new ways to cross the road." Unfortunetly I have not yet seen a chicken mascot at a competition I love the little ones they hand out though.

Re: BEST TEAM IDENTITY

The number of a team is what really strikes me as the best way to identify a team.

Whenever I see numbers like 191, 365 and 71 I think nothing of FIRST. Most all numbers that I see that are connected highly to teams get me thinking of FIRST.

I get a chuckle sometimes at this too...I was watching Transformers last night and the 217 at the end of the guy's account name got me thinking FIRST.

Re: BEST TEAM IDENTITY

Our team and our robots are not well known outside of our area. But our mascot (IMO) is by far one of the best-known and most recognizable mascots in FIRST.

People often come to our pits at the championship asking where "the hat" is and if they can get a picture with it.

It has made repeated appearances in FIRST's videos.

#100 has also gotta be the easiet number to remember

Re: BEST TEAM IDENTITY

here are mine

71- probably the most dominating team in FIRST history, they have earned the phrase "never bet against the beast"

233- this PINK team stands out everywhere they go, and they have that signature arm...

1114 - The most dominating team in recent history for FIRST, they are probally the image of FIRST in Canada already. as looking forward said they are the ONLY team to win 4 banners in a year. and are attempting to DO IT AGAIN. with such a famous person in the FIRST community as Karthik Kanagasabopathy, this team is in my books, the team that i think of when i think of FIRST

(i've noticed a lot of team bias in this thread as well)

Re: BEST TEAM IDENTITY

Y'all might look at me funny for this, but team 180: S.P.A.M. Even if their robot isn't the exact same shade of blue and red as their shirts and capes, there is something about an entire section of the Colonial Center going "S-P-A-M! SPAM! SPAM! SPAM!" that definitely turns heads! (Heck, my first FRC regional was five years ago now, and there are two chants that I still remember from it: theirs and ComBBAT's*.)

For the total package, though, I've long been fond of the way 1902 manages to tie together everything. From the shirts to the robot to the website to the pit, they're always able to tie it all together. Every season, they refine it just a bit--and every season, I'm stuck adding another item to my Things I Should Show The Team list. Gee, thanks 1902!

*On that subject, WHO DAT BBAT?

Re: BEST TEAM IDENTITY

Oink, Oink, Boom. Need I say more?

Of course I've got a lot of favorites though. Exploding Bacon, Pink team, Hot, the Bees, Desperate Penguins, and the Thunderchickens are some of my top favorites. As I said to my team mate when we walked into the Detroit Regional

"You know, a robotics regional is the only place where you can walk in and see two people in chicken suits and not be confused."

But I also love Rush. They have one of the most professional identities of any FIRST team I've seen, and seeing them work is like seeing a well oiled machine. They get the job done and they do it professionally.
