Thumbs up Re: 2008 Palmetto Regional

Well I finally made it to a regional in person.
Someone...I'll be nice and not point them out said the weather should be fine... if the engineer thing don't work out you have a future as a weatherman.
But thanks to the rain my work was rained out and I was only a hundred or so miles away so... managed to get there just in time for the semi-finals
To anyone thats never been to the event in person... the webcast do NOT do justice to actually being there and feeling the vibe.
What a show! From what I've been told Champs is even more exciting and fun.
To the folks that put together the Palmetto and run it I say thanks.
I've seldom have enjoyed a free event as much as a FIRST event!
Great job folks.
To 2483, 386, & 1758... congrats on winning the gold.
Was awesome seeing a team from NC winning!

As a side note; Yeah I have in the past expressed a slightly negative view of the dancing that goes on at these regionals, and had no plans of becoming one of the bad dancers but... well the excitement was just too hard to resist and before I knew what was happening I was joining in with the crowd in the stands.
Also... I just like to say how impressed and I will admit surprised how welcoming and polite the people (students and adults) were there.
I heard no swearing, no bragging or thrash talking that can be often heard at any highschool sporting event one might go to.
Instead the few pits I stopped at didn't mind an outsider checking out there robots and were eager to answer a question or show off a feature of their robot and didn't mind breaking it down so a Protronie could understand.
My hat is off to all the teams and officials that put on such an interesting and exciting event.
