Amy-

Do you know if anyone knows whether or not we will be using those big lights again this year? Or are the going to go back to the colored sides or smaller lights...

from being at the summer competitions, I know many teams were having trouble (us included) with keeping the lights turning, in the proper direction, and keeping the caps on...

Just wondering--

I know I'm not Amy, but I'd like to comment anyway....I liked the lights, it saved our team from going back to the '99 approach, which for us was pieces of fabric that were mounted on something and were attached by velcro to the bot....which we kept on forgetting to remove before we transported it, and then in transport on the highway one of the red ones fell off ::grin::

Ok, I'm done rambling.....

These lights may seem useless to us, since we know what the game is like, but while we were demonstrating at teh Big E (a huge fair in massachusetts... thanks to Buzz for setting the whole thing up!), the crowd would have had no idea which robot was on which team were it not for the lights. A couple people commented that they were a good idea. another thing, how many people broke these 'Indestructible Lights' as FIRST put it? i think we completely destroyed two or three of them in the competitions... just my thoughts..
