Shameless Hiring Request

Tell me if this is wrong, but we are desparate.

The US market for qualified software engineers / developers is extremely tight. It is very difficult to find experienced people in this field who are looking for work. My group at Motorola that designs the software systems that runs the Nextel communications network is growing so fast that we cannot hire people fast enough. Right now we have openings for 70 SW developers and/or test engineers in my group alone.

So, if you know of any friends who are interested in a SW position in the Chicago area, have them contact me at my email address: cmic15@email.mot.com

Raul,

I've been tempted to do the same thing you just did. I don't think it's wrong at all.

Delphi (and other companies) will ALWAYS need software engineers... and we now are also looking for mechanical and electrical engineers. So, If you want to fire off a resume to me also, please do. Even if you are looking for a college internship, I can make sure that your resume gets into the right hands here at Delphi-Delco Electronics.

Thanks,
Andy Baker

As an adult advisor to our team it would seem to me that any information regarding specialized employment opportunities for graduating students in todays work market can only have a positive out come.
It is important that the youth of today understands the options available and the needs of industry prior to entering the work force. Directional early training for a needed slot in industry is the best way to be prepared for a higher paying working position. knowledge is power and power is wealth.
Training in advance for the power is the key to success.
Nick. Team 237

: Do you want a special Job Section on this site?

YES, I think it would be an awesome service on your part to allow the students to see what kinds of jobs are out there.

My group alone has 25 openings for college grads in Software for jobs starting in January, 2000. We are in the process of interviewing college seniors for those jobs. We will also be looking to fill more positions in the late spring.

Of course, we also have many openings for experienced engineers.

If you create a job forum section, I will start to post details of the openings we have, including salary ranges.

Raul

Why stop there? Why not include internships, too?

Yes!
that'd awesome! i'd love to go work (or intern) for a company that's into FIRST...

as a college student who's gonna be looking fairly soon, i think that's just a fantastic idea... just lets companies reap the benefits of FIRST quicker and across a broader area than just their local team...

I am telling you, it is a really awesome thing for a team when a bunch of their students get hired by their sponsors for jobs or internships. There is not a day you can't walk into the shop at 3-D and see a bunch of people you know from the robotics team. 3-D currently employs over 10 former team members (I have lost count). I also know that they keep the door open for former members to apply as well. This year the Juggernauts should have about 4 or 5 former (and current) students representing them. The school/sponsor bond is so tight, that 3-D even looks at kids in the school who are not on the team.
Just a thought. Tap your resources.

-Erin
