Team Goals

I apologize if this has been discuessed in great detail before but I have not seen anything about it recently and my search produced nothing. Also, sorry Mods if this is in the wrong place.

I have been looking at the threads on CD recently and I started to think about what some of the goals of FIRST are. I was talking with a girl on our team earlier as she was filling me in about the topics of our team meeting tonight (homework stinks when it makes you miss robots ). She told me that we have a lot of new ideas for next year on how to improve our team. Then I got to thinking more... what are the goals of the team I'm on?

Is the goal of the team to win or to teach? I know all teams want to say that their team goal is to teach kids but it's tough out there. You get so close to competition and all you can think about is how to put a winning robot out there. I love my team, the Dynamos. I just want to go into next year with something new, something we have never had before. I would like to have a goal. One goal that we can try to achieve. It could be anything from winning a particular award, a ton of awards, getting certain people to attend competition, making the team grow, teaching every mechie to use the mill, anything.

This is where I want your help. Do any of your teams have set goals they try to achieve? I'm looking to bring some of these ideas up to people on the team so any input would be awesome. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I know Team 45 lists both their permanent and year to year goals in their team handbook.

As part of our continued growth, my team will be developing specific goals for next year as well. Here are some preliminary goals we have set for 08-09.

Quote:
• Utilize more aggressive fundraising to expand to participation in 2 regional events
• Further develop non-robot related sub-teams such as Website and Animation
• Expand community impact and begin spreading the FIRST message through robot demonstrations and community outreach
• Increase involvement of professionals engineers in the design and build process
Please keep all discussion regarding the last goal in the appropriate thread (not too hard to find it)!!!

Re: Team Goals

Our goal is our motto:

"We build people"

Our robot might win, or it might lose. It doesn't really matter.

We measure our success in the number of lives touched, the bonds formed, and the experiences that you will never forget.
