CASTING CALL!
WGBH, the producers of FETCH! and NOVA, is looking for budding engineers for our third season of DESIGN SQUAD, an engineering reality competition show. To audition, you must be 18 or 19-years-old. Prior experience designing and building things and an interest in engineering is a real plus.
Over 13 episodes, contestants tackle engineering challenges for an actual client. In the final episode, the top two scorers battle for the Grand Prize—a $10,000 college scholarship.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT KIND OF TIME COMMITMENT DOES THE SHOW INVOLVE? To be cast, you need to be available to work and live in Boston:
June, July, and August (through • August 15th)
Full time work schedule (5 days • a week; 9 hour days with an hour for lunch); weekdays and weekends
Housing will be provided•
You will be making a big commitment, but you will get paid to have a ton of fun, learn a lot about engineering, and be on a national television show.

WHAT IF WE HAVE SCHEDULING CONFLICTS?
If you are not able to make the commitment to all of the dates required, you will not be able to be cast.

WHEN WILL THE SHOW BE ON THE AIR?
The show would air on PBS stations around the country starting in 2009.

WILL I BE PAID?
Yes. You will need to join a performer’s union (AFTRA) and will be paid for your work. The union will determine the pay scale, but it will be much, much more than you can make flipping burgers, being a counselor at a camp, mowing lawns, working at the Gap, etc. And don’t forget, the winner of this reality challenge show will also earn a $10,000 scholarship.
