Score rule 6 states that the team that has the rack on its side of the field will double the score. In the qualifying rounds the goal and operators station is on the same side of the field and 'its' side is obvious. In the elimination rounds the goal is opposite the starting and operators side of the field. Is 'its' side the goal side or the operators side?

We will be making an update soon that will address this the issue of confusion over which side is which color in the elimination matches.

The concept will be the same in that the score will be 32-32 at the beginning of the match and the robots will start next to their opponent's ramps but this concept will be arrived at using a different method.

A picture is worth a thousand words here, but lacking that right now, I will state it in words with a picture to follow.

The current Elimination Match configuration can be defined as follows:
1) Begin with the Seeding Match field configuration.
2) Switch the color designation of the ramps.
3) Move the balls in the 1 point holes up to the 5 point holes.

This method confuses matters somewhat because the scoring ramps for each alliance are on the opposite side of the field from where the alliance is sitting. Also, the fans and players alike could possibly get confused. It is even possible that a team may mistakenly head to the wrong ramp to score or push the square rack in the seeding round (i.e. wrong) direction. So... We are making the following changes.

The new configuration for the Elimination Matches will be defined as follows:
1) Begin with the Seeding Match field configuration.
2) Switch every red ball for a blue ball and vice versa.
3) Move the balls in the one point holes to the 5 point holes.
4) Switch the starting points for the red robots and the blue robots.

Look for an update soon that has this information in schetch format but until then this will have to do.

Joe J.

Joe has revised the original picture, but in addition to the picture - just remember in the seeding matches the objective is to drive across the field and retrieve your colored balls and return them to your side of the field (as designated by the goal - it will be obvious, as we are intending on putting a matching colored beacon on the 2 blue and 2 red goals) In the elimination matches, the objective is changed in that each alliance already has balls in scoring position (32 points worth) and therefore the objective has a twist to it. The side of the field is based on the goal, not the starting position or location of the humans - their position relative to the side that is designated as theirs, is consequential. Again, at the break between the seeding and elimination matches we will be re-setting ramps and beacons accordingly! And you are just gonna love the continuous scoring that Joe and Bruce has cooked up!
