are semi's always
Newton vs Galileo
and
Archimedes vs Curie
?
or is it random?

They aren't always. In 2005, it was:
Newton over Archimedes
Galileo over Curie

Newton over Galileo

Ask some of the "old-timers" on your team about that... They were representing Galileo.

Unfortunately we don't have any "old-timers" left on the team. All of our mentors and student started after 2005.
